Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for doubts to be asked about his position following another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the club's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got plenty of backing from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period like this with results this poor.”

He finished, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is gone, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
