Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Festive Top Spot.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The project aims to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it fails to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The track was produced in the wake of a solidarity show held in late summer. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the performance was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of performers appearing on Lullaby features a range of well-known figures from the music world. All took part in the benefit event, which managed to collect a significant sum for humanitarian aid.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was produced by a trio of producers and composers. The song blends a mix of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.

The group managing the campaign have clarified that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an established charity.

“There is no a fixed goal,” a spokesperson explained. “We aim for whatever we can get. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the region was characterized as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of property said to be in ruins or severely impacted.

“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions doesn’t make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is first of all making this cause better known and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a digital service from the 19th of December.
