Ex- Physician Faces Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a former physician now faces charges for committing assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Charges
The charging documents said the 45 charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
Authorities have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
