New information has come to light about the untimely passing of esteemed director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their residence home on Sunday.

The Discovery

According to a report quoting a confidential source, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the house. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.

After gaining access to the home, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had gone with her contacted 911. Subsequently, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Developments

The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently being held without bail.

Clarifications

The anonymous source questioned several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.

Furthermore pushed back against widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement includes accounts of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a event hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.

Investigation Timeline

Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports noted the state of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was set to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
