Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is unclear and the United States has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.

It said wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
