Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by a single point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before rotating through the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th place, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
