The 'Breaking Bad' Creator Discloses He Knows How The Apple TV+ Show Will Conclude... For Now.

Vince Gilligan never anticipated that his new science-fiction series would emerge as a breakout success. “God bless the fans,” Gilligan says. “I was surprised by the show being as talked about as it is, and it makes me deliriously happy.”

As the debut season of the acclaimed program wrapping up—and the next chapter officially in the works—the writers' room opened up about the fan response and whether it will shape the future direction of Pluribus.

About the Overwhelming Fan Response

It would be easy to get swayed by the constant speculation and fan theories surrounding Pluribus. Gilligan, however, is striving to ignore the noise.

“The experience is akin to force fed hot fudge sundaes and being laughing uncontrollably,” he explains. “It's the greatest thing, but I hear about it from others, and that's on purpose. Never in my life looked myself up on the internet, nor do I ever want to. It's quite the opposite. It's a deep trap I know I would fall into and then I'd be living in squalor from Home Depot and I'd be stuck in my living room.”

Regardless of his concerted efforts, there’s it's impossible to ignore the overwhelmingly positive response to the series. The only approach for the writers is to take it in stride and try not to let it dictate the story of the show.

“We don't try to tailor anything,” says writer and executive producer Alison Tatlock. “The plot we develop is not impacted by what people are saying.”

“Better to keep our heads down and working,” Gilligan adds.

A Pressing Query: Has the creator Know the Finale of Pluribus?

Given that the writers aren't taking cues by audience theories, does it imply they have mapped out how Pluribus will finally conclude? The answer is yes… sort of.

“There are some potential directions about the ultimate destination,” Gilligan reveals. “yet we stand ready to discard a good idea for a superior concept. That has held us in excellent shape on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We change course when we conceive of something superior and I suspect we'll be doing that.”

Then again, if they hit a wall, executive producer Gordon Smith has a humorous idea to fall back on.

“My recurring proposal is that it's all in a snow globe, and that we'll reveal the snow globe and that's where they've been all along,” Smith quips, “but nobody's taking me up on that.”

Of course, one could always use the legendary finales?

“I want Carol to open her eyes next to Bob Newhart,” he jokes.

Pluribus can be watched on the streaming service.
