The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG
The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership was established to create a TTRPG set within the series' post-pandemic setting. This initiative has been announced, with a funding drive scheduled to begin in April of 2026.
"This endeavor aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the table, offering fans a new way to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and player-driven missions," reads an official release.
Initial offerings will include a starter set, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, figurines, and several deluxe editions.
Exploring The Division's Dystopian World
In this setting, a lethal pathogen known as Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, plunging the nation into turmoil. As the crisis escalates, civil order breaks down and violent factions rise, turning the city into a warzone. To preserve law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of undercover operatives. That’s where the agents come in.
Work on the RPG has been underway for about three years, and it is reportedly finished. The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will function as a pre-launch sales platform to reach a wider audience, particularly in North America. Production is slated to begin immediately following the campaign, with shipping expected for later in 2026.
An Innovative Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System
A preview at the game's rules reveals it employs d10s predominantly through its new GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and tactical style. Agents leverage skills or traits to roll a handful of dice, typically from one to five d10s.
- Rather than summing the total, players choose a single “result die” from the pool.
- This dice is then compared against a target difficulty.
- Achieving a natural 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or boosted support.
Engagements Emphasize Positioning and Situational Insight
Battles stress positioning and situational awareness, mirroring the source material. Elements like cover, height advantage, or line of sight have a direct impact dice rolls. This mechanic seems built to reward coordination and clever tactics over raw numbers.
A Thematic Wound System
The way health is managed adds a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits reduces their capabilities by lowering the size of their dice pool.
- At critical condition, an agent collapses, but they’re not unconscious.
- They can still crawl and take limited actions, simulating the last stand common to video game shooters.
- Any agent in this state must roll on a trauma table, risking persistent effects like trauma or crippling injuries.
An Introductory Adventure
A free Quickstart Guide is promised soon. It includes a pre-made introductory scenario titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group spearhead the hunt for a missing medical team and must thwart an assault by the notorious Rikers gang, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the complete product lineup will be unveiled near the Kickstarter start date.
